Silverwire was formed in 2003 as a merger of FotoWire, ShareAPhoto and Silverlab to supply Internet sharing and printing software and services to retail customers. The company addressed the digital imaging needs of business customers by providing products such as: photo kiosks, web photo albums, wireless imaging solutions, MMS storage and printing, Internet digital print ordering software, photo CD viewing software and digital workflow solutions for industrial photo labs. The company’s focus was to make it easier for consumers to work with and order prints from digital cameras.
On June 6, 2006 HP announced a definitive agreement to acquire Silverwire Holding AG. Silverwire was integrated into the Retail Photo Solutions Group within the Imaging and Printing Group at HP.
